Rose Celebrations in Bulgaria 2015
End of May and beginning of June – this is the time of the Bulgarian rose celebrations and the best time to visit the Valley of Roses. Traditionally the rose festivals are the most attractive in two cities in the valley between Stara Planina and Sredna gora mountains – cities of Karlovo and Kazanlak. This year we have chosen to welcome the new harvest of roses in Karlovo by participating in the celebrations in the city as a sponsor of Karlovo municipality for the Feast of the Roses 2015.
The main feast day in Karlovo was 30-th of May. The whole Saturday was packed with events and we were about to visit them all.
9:00 – Rosepicking Ritual in the outskirts of the city, with the Queen of the Roses – a beautiful girl chosen in an yearly competition earlier in May, and with the participation of local folklore dancers;
10:30 – Queen of Roses manifestation and daily festive program on the city square;
13:30 – Demonstration of Rose destilation and Rose products tasting in the Museum of History in Karlovo;
18:00 – Evening Concert Program – open stage on the city square;
08:00 – 20:00 – Commercial Alley of the Rose with rose products.
Tourists, official delegations from around the world and citizens of the city were crowding the streets of Karlovo and the whole city was smelling like roses… A weekend trip to the Valley of Roses worth repeating. See you next year, Karlovo!
